Adding Factory NAV
On my factory non-NAV stereo receiver, there is an AUX plug in on the top right so I can download music from my Droid to the car stereo. If I do the conversion to the factory NAV system, will I lose the AUX plug and the ability to play music from my Droid on the car stereo?
Thanks!

Adding a factory navigation radio will loose the auxilliary input jack. You will either need to add a GM Personal Audio Link (PAL) or wire in a auxilliary input jack, from the link posted above. Either will give you the option to attach an mp3 player or allow you to output audio from the headphone jack on your device.

The only thing that needs to be done with the Tech 2 is to introduce the VIN of the car to the navigation radio to disable the anti-theft feature.

you cannot program it while driving, it is difficult to program, and it just like the non nav unit changes the sound of the stereo because of its built in EQ that likes to blast the midrange and cut the highs and lows!
comare that factory POS to say a Kenwood DNX9960 you can get one on fleabay for about 900-1100 and you get the following.
Garmin based navigation
life time real time traffic info
Ipod connection and on screen controls
USB for thumbdrive and MP3 files
XM capable with attached accessory
5.1 surround sound (unfortunatly the stock blose system has a mono rear channel) but otherwise some surround effect is still sustained
ability to play DVD movies in 5.1 surround
voice control of the entire unit
bluetooth
can be attached to factory steering wheel controls if your car has them with adapater
rear back up camera capable(i mounted mine on the license plate)
separate 14 band EQ for front and rear
dual screen mode (can see nav directions on the audio screen and vice versa)
the ONLY thing you give up is the nav instructions in the HUD which are really redundant and less meaningfull than the nav screen which has lane assit (actually shows a pictorial diagram of the lanes ahead and the exit ramp that includes how many lanes go left right or straight from your viewpoint)
this makes nearly impossible to get confused where to turn.
the voice control is awesome, you can literally control the entire unit, select tracks, make phone calls ask for directions, input address or find things like "starbucks" or "Mcdonalds" understands spoken street names ect..
so for about the same money why put the factory peice of trash in the car that most people are happy to rid themselves of in favor of a nav unit that actually works the way you would expect one to?
