Shifter Boot Replacement on A6

2008 3LT F55 A6

Hi.

I have just installed an assortment of goodies from DSVettes (Ebrake lever/boot/****, steering wheel spokes, & console cover) and I am really pleased.

I have yet to install the new shifter **** and boot.

I have just removed the shifter ****, and now I am faced with the task of changing out the shifter boot.

Unlike on the MN6, it appears that the console has to be removed. I was wondering what experience any of you have had with this? I have seen threads on how to remove the bezel & console, but I would rather not take apart more than I have to.

Is it possible to just lift the tail section of the console up slighty, and slip the boot out, or do I have to remove the bezel and console entirely?

A6. The console needs to removed. Take your time. I put towels around the console so it did not scratch anything. I also took this time to install padding to any place a squeak might appear.
