Have to wait and see but my car is all stock...No modifications or additions anywhere and pampered at that. Parked in garage after 250 mile trip and noisy when started after a week.

I didn't keep it on long enough to warm up for fear of more damage. The noise or knock is very loud and not normal. Had it towed to the dealer today. Service rep started it and turned it off right away too.
It must be different than what mine is doing then. Mine sounds normal at idle and starts knocking at about 1000 rpm and the knock goes away completely when the oil temp. gets to 90 deg. Good luck and update us on it.

He already stated his car was stock. Lets help the guy out not start the mod war again.
It seemed as though he was avoiding the question. It is a 2006 model, unless it has GMPP, it is out of the 3/36k warranty and hovering around the 5 yr/100k powertrain warranty.
No mod war here, we all know mods void warranties and can shorten engine/trans life.

the oil thins after it heats up,mabe something is causing it not to get enough oil till it warms up and the oil is thiner so it is pumped easyer, but it does sound like something is not getting oil,but i know how you feel, all i want to hear is the intake and ex.......what is your oil p. reading when this is happening ?..
Lifters will tick in these cars from time to time. Sounds like a typewriter. An actual knock, like you are knocking on a wood desk or something, is something to be concerned about. Lets see what the dealer finds.

even with the "skull" cap on the LS3, the valve train is pretty noisy..but normal.. I experienced a dry valve train "knock" on two occasions in the 3+ years I owned the car. Sounds like a lifter was not pumped up and took a few seconds before it was normal again. Occured after sitting for a few days each time.. but have had it sit for a week or more and no unusual noise.. I don't see it as a problem as much as an anomaly you get with push rod engines..
Or.. you can look at it as a problem.. and it will probably fail within the next 150K to 175K miles..
