I use a 2x6x18 for the rear and a 2x8x24 for the front. The cross beams are nice but really present clearance problems getting it and the jack under the car. The car will have to be driven up on some boards to make it work.

So you just jack the piece of wood? wouldn't a lot of the pressure still be in the middle?

where do you put this piece of wood? I haven't jacked my GS up yet. I have ramps but they don't get it hight enough to do a header install so I will need to know this....

your GS allot like Z06. If you have jacking pucks USE THEM. If not GET THEM. Get a low approach jack. You can use some blocks and drive onto them then on to ramps. If you search THIS site you will find jacking/lifting points. It is also in your owners manual. Forum vendors sell the jacking puck. I paid 30 for mine delivered to my door.

You could get a couple of these lift both sides simultaneously from the puck locations.

Or use a second jack, to lift both sides.

Set it down on jack stands or standard ramps before getting under the car.

Just a FYI - Here's a diagram of the preferred lifting points on the C6.
