My alarm will go off for no reason. It started the other day when I was changing the plugs. I had to disconnect the battery. It was fine the next two days and then it did it again last night when the car was in the garage. My wife washed my key fob a couple weeks ago. None of the buttons work now, but the car still starts and drives no problem. The proximity sensors work for lock/unlock also.
One more problem, the windows quit going back up the 1/2" or so when you close the doors. This is causing a major issue when I need to wash the car. Could this be linked to the FOB also??

STOP....closing your doors or your going to mess up something....re-index your windows...that happened when you d/c'd your battery. The other issue is the fob since it got washed...I'll bet on it....
First I've heard of a FOB being washed knocking it out of commission. I've washed mine three times over the past 51 months and never missed a beat. Of course, mine is the old-style FOB.

I suspect fob because it was washed and it does have a panic button which causes the alarm to sound....
So, the wife accidentally washed your FOB that you left in your pants pocket? Ever heard of anything electronic that survived a wash cycle? Test your cell phone in the next load of wash.
Get a FOB at an auction site. Much cheaper than buying from a stealership. Then just follow the instructions in the owners manual to program it. I had to make a sticker for the back of FOB 2 as both read 1 as I got the second one from that auction site. Good luck.

I see a new FOB in your future.

The original fob (#1) in my Yukon (04) disenigrated/melted....just by regular use. I can imagine what it would (better-would NOT) do if I washed it....
Don't waste your money replacing the FOB until you have opened it up and replaced the battery and let it dry out. I've accidentilly had my FOBs go throught the washing machine several times without any issues, except the last time. I replaced the battery and it was fine. It's sealed up very well with a rubber membrane and is water resistant and almost water proof. If water does get into it, it won't dry out unless you open it up.
Take the battery out, dry the FOB as much as possible with towels and cotton swabs, then put the FOB in a container of rice for three days. The rice acts as a desiccant (absorbs moisture). It worked on my son's cell phone.
I also believe you need to dry out the fob, not replace it.
The other thing that can happen that will make some of the buttons intermittent, like the alarm, is the laundry soap can leave deposits on the contacts.
Go to Radio Shack or an Electronics Parts House and by some 'Blue Shower" contact cleaner or an equivalent.
Make sure you get the kind that doesn't leave any lubricating residue behind. Check this by spraying it on your hand. It should feel cold and dry instantly with nothing left behind.
Then take the battery out and completely hose down the fob with the cleaner. Shake the excess out and this will remove any scum and water left behind.
