Default 2011 NAV Disc(s)

Happy New Year Everyone!

I have a 2008 3LT Corvette with everything on it except factory NAV. I'm having the factory NAV installed this week. Luck would have it that I obtained a used 2008 Corvette GM factory NAV unit at a very good price, (a NAV disc did not come with the NAV unit.) I ordered my 2011updated NAV disc from the official GM NAV website, and I got it delivered to me today. It has TWO NAV DISCS, EAST AND WEST.

My question is this:

Are there two NAV discs, East and West, becasue my Corvette is a 2008, or are there two NAV discs, East and West because the 2011 NAV disc(s) updated version for the Corvette has so much more info on it that two NAV discs are needed.

Just curious.

Thanks,

Stephen

The Corvette nav discs are completely interchangable from year to year, 2005 through 2011.

The newer nav discs allow for more POI information by using two discs, the complete set of maps is allegedly on either disc. There was one post that using the 'wrong' disc for your area will lose some of the smaller roads, but others have claimed that is not true.

If you haven't already, go to talon90 's personal website and start reading his nav tutorial, it's far better than the factory manual and it impressed me with how capable the C6 nav system really is, just not easy to learn.

Congrats!

Supposedly they increase the POI information about %20 each year per the email I got back from them asking what the usual differences were.

Yes there are two nav disks. One for east and one for West.
