No limit via the ecu. The vette is drag limited. You will go as fast as the combination of your aerodynamics and power will allow. It will definitely change when the top is down. That will create more drag and would probably slow you down a bit. Expect the C6 to hit somewhere in the late 180's bone stock.

Thanks bigred...didn't think so but wanted to double check

Sorry, but there is a speed limiter, for my '07 it is 186 mph, but if you have HP Tuners you can change it.

I have never known this to be true. IF IT IS TRUE, it doesn't make a difference as these cars in stock form aren't gonna get much more than the 190 range anyway. Let's see what others have to say when they chime in. Now I'm curious. I took my LS2 M6 Coupe up to 182mph on a "closed course"

See my edited post. With my car there would be a reason to up the limit. They bumped the limiter to 195 mph for the LS3.
Aren't the tires rated for 186 mph on the base cars and GS?
Last I heard, the original manufacturer was not allowed to sell a car that could exceed the tire rating. So it would make sense to put the 186 limiter in there, just in case.
IIRC; when I bought my 1998 Camaro Z28, one of the tire choices was not speed rated and those cars came with a limiter something around 125 mph. If you put on better tires, you were still stuck with the limiter unless you could find a tuner to remove it.

This is correct. For legal CYA reasons, production cars are speed limited to max tire speed. What you do with the car after you own it is your business.

So is there a limiter on the 05 c6? not that I am looking to drive at those speeds much but would really like to know what the deal REALLY is.....
There is a limiter at 158 mph until you turn off the traction control on my '08. I suggest turning it off early, so you don't get the power surge at the limit.
i found this on the forum.. sorry to bother you again
That is not for Corvette. Corvettes, AFAIK arent available in 4WD. That is for the Tahoe and they are values not mph.

The the base Vette, Z06 and ZR1 sport ZR speed rated ties. They are only tested to 186 and are worn by cars that are faster than 186. The Z06's top speed is 195(?) on ZR rated tires and the ZR's is over 200.
There is no factory installed rev limiter on a C6 Corvette. They are drag limited.

The Goodyear supercars have a (Y) rating which is over 186.

If by rev limiter you mean RPMs, you are dead wrong. The ecm will cut fuel at xxxx rpm.
If by rev limiter you mean MPH, then again you are dead wrong. Go back and look at the HP Tuners screen shot I put up in post #6.

I can't recall ,Is drag and rev limited one in the same?

Rev limiter was obviously a brain fart typo on my part. Meant speed limiter.
A generic pic of an HP page proves nothing. But to humor you I'll play along. Whats enable at 1500rpm? Whats a speed limiter 2 at 80mph? Why at the bottom of the page does it say Max speed 318? Where does it say anyhing for Corvette? Where is a GM official letterhead with this 'data'? That is a totally worthless picture.
