How long should it take a qualified service technician to install a Boyo camera and Lockpick 360 in my 2008 with NAV?

Only the aftermarked radios have an input for a camera.The higher end radios that is .You need an interface. The lockpick can do ipod also if you have the right one.

I'm thinking that putting the camera display in the inside mirror might be a better solution. Could also allow me to get rid of the extra blind spot created by Onstar buttons i don't use.
Can anyone comment who has tried both a nav-camera and a mirror-camera?

I installed this in my C6 about 6 months ago. My guess would be 4 hours. It took me longer but I really took my time, and I am not a "qualified service technician". However I did have the advantage of using all the great write up's on this forum on how to take the Nav radio out!
I suggest you call coastal tech, http://www.coastaletech.com/, and ask them. While it is a long shot they may be able to recomend someone in your area.

Lol that's crazy. It's a 2 hour job max and gm techs don't know a thing about these installs from what I've seen. Go to a shop that specializes in audio not gm. Shouldn't be more than 100-150 for installation

Installing the lockpick 360 to work with the factory Nav requires a modification to the Nav unit. You have to remove the front screen, and replace a ribbon cable while there is no cutting or soldering required the ribbon cable connectors are a little tricky.
It would not surprise me if some installers did not want to do this, and if they did I would want them to take their time.

I don't think so as I just ordered the lockpit. I am using the kenwood cmos -300 in a 2010 GS with nav. This is the only way to do it according to the place installing it. They are charging me for installation 400.00. Is this fair ? they say to do a professional correct job that is what is needed. Guaranteed no problems in the future.

I was quoted around 400 for installation. They said it is a lot of work. You have to take the whole thing out etc. I reallly believe these guys.

I thought about one but with my Pioneer 920BT by the time it finishes "booting" up I would have already backed up and on my way. It takes about 10 seconds to boot up. I personally think its a huge waste of money. I still for the life of me can't understand why you need a backup camera in a Corvette. Not like the Vette is the size of a Suburban. You guys must have run out of other things to do to the car.

One of our Toyotas has a backup camera that shows in the nav screen, and it's not as nice as I expected. I still want to use the mirrors while backing up, and the bobble-head motion of looking down at the screen, up at the inside mirror, and finally down/sideways for the side mirrors; gets to be a bit much. Especially if turning while backing.
