Default Service Active Handling error message

Hello everyone,

I'm just curious what insight you guys might have on active handling issues i'm experiencing. I have a c6 2005 z51 coupe. I starting experiencing the Service Active Handling messages about 6 months ago. At first they popped up maybe every 10th time I drove the car. It never really effected anything and it came up often when I was driving in a straight line.

Recently I started having some very scary issues with the active handling. It seems that after a rain or washing the car (may also be correlated with cold weather ) that it malfunctions causing the car to brake erratically for no reason at slow speeds. The first time it happened I was driving no more than 10-15 mph and it came on and started jerking the car around. I then drove the car while it was dry and sunny outside and no problems other than the "service active handling" occured. I drove it again in the rain and like clockwork it started braking while i was hardly moving.

I'm planning on taking the car to the dealer tomorrow to have them run some codes. Any thoughts on this? I read through few forums on similar problems but I'm a newb and don't completely understand.

Some of these messages on the DIC are *soft* codes and can be removed safely with a code reader. Even the cheapest code reader should work fine for removing soft codes.

However, it may be a genuine issue that needs attention, so best to consult your local speed shop for verification.

Here are a couple threads with most of the info you need that should explain what's going on:

Keep after the dealer on this...very dangerous situation if AH starts doing funky stuff at freeway speeds!

Thanks for the help guys. Should gm or dealer do this repair for free or is it on me at this point? I have an extended warranty but its only effective sometimes.
