You can pair your phone and make hands free calls with it, if that's what you mean. You don't need onstar for that.

Default Bluetooth?

Okay Gang,
I have an 06 and I know that I didn't have Bluetooth. When did Bluetooth come online for the vette?
I keep using that expensive Onstar to make hand-free calls. How do you update a 2006 coupe with Bluetooth capability?
I have this on my other cars but not the vette.
Thanks.
I guess I need to do a Bluetooth search now.
VR,
Fuze

You can't easily integrate bluetooth into the car like the new ones have...but a bluetooth unit from Motorola or BlueAnt can cost $50-$100 and give you the hands free capability. The bluetooth unit that is part of the car now is nothing special...a $12 item....the only thing that it has going for it is that it is integrated into the car.

For those with older vettes without bluetooth (<2009) capabilities, get one of the set-ups offered by CF member Ray Kawal (website.)

I have the factory integrated Bluetooth in my ’09. But I have put Parrot units in most of my cars and used the harnesses from Installer.com (http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=7791 ).
It’s an easy DIY and provides a seamless integration.

Bluetooth is just an extension of your cell phone. So your calls show up on your cell phone bill.

On Star wants me to buy minutes and it did not show up on my cell phone about 2 months when I had the On star. So I can not pair a phone with Bluetooth and just use it to call on my cell. Correct.

Personally I hate bluetooth. Every time I'm in my wifes Acadia and she calls someone or someone calls her it takes over unless she disables her phone. Not a fan!

Are you implying that I thought they did?

I offered the link to Kawal's gadgets as an alternative. IMO knowing what solutions are available makes for better decisions

I wanted to have bluetooth in my 07 but couldn't justify paying for a new head unit or paying someone to install one of those lockpicks or PAL. This is not a daily driver. I came across the Motorola T505 and it sounded promising. I was able to find it at my local FRY's for $49.00. I can say I LOVE IT. The music quiality from my iphone is great!!!! I had the top down and made a call @60 mph. The person on the other end said there was a lot of wind noise but the could still hear
