Well now it's gone from bad to worst. I have never had any real success playing MP3 in my 2007 Navigation unit. Usually it skips songs or repeats songs or just does what it wants. Well today was the topper. I put in a MP3 CD and it said loading.....loading.....then!!! invalid disc progran. Has the unit finally just given up trying to play MP3 format? It plays a regular CD with no problem. Is this really a true MP3 player radio, or just some attempt from GM to modify the 2005 non-MP3 player with some black magic program???? Any ideas...or am it plain out of luck. Thank god I have a 6 disc CD changer in the trunk. Which also only plays regular CD format. The real shame is my wife's Elantra plays MP3's without a hitch..skip...or burp. And they wonder why people get pissed off. Well if anyone out there has a magic wand to get this unit back in business, I would greatly appreciated.
It's free and a very small footprint. Keep your song titles small and the more info (author, album, genre, year, etc) you fill in the better for future use with various playback systems.
I should say (as a follow-up to my above suggestion) that yes, the software for playing MP3s is a bit temperamental. My '05 (with the reflash) has no problem playing MP3 files that I create, but sometimes won't play files given to me by other people.
The issue is usually how the file was made. That's why I offered the link to the free MP3 creation program. Another culprit is often how long the title is. Best to keep it 22 characters or less. Nested folders can stop some software also, especially when combined with other problems, so be sure to keep your song folders no more than 2 deep (I'd even recommend just 1 deep.)
