Has anyone had to replace a sun visor on a C6. Somehow, God only knows, my driver side broke. At least the mirror cover but it was driving me nuts so I broke down and bought a replacement. Broke is what I am now..that dam thing was almost 4 big ones. I figured it would be a quick fix but I can't figure for the life of me how to pull the old one off let alone put the new one in. Can anybody help me?
Looking in the Service Manual its supposed to be easy. Here are the complete instructions for replacing the sunshade. Sunshade Replacement
Removal Procedure
Tilt the sunshade down toward the windshield.
Insert a flat head screwdriver blade into the slot in the sunshade inner bezel.
Using the screwdriver against the elbow of the sunshade arm for leverage pull down on the sunshade arm while rotating the sunshade outboard until the sunshade stops. (the first tab disengages).
Push up on the sunshade and continue rotating the sunshade outboard until the sunshade with the inner bezel disengages from the mounting bezel.
Disconnect the electrical connector.
Remove the sunshade.
Disassemble as necessary.
If removing the mounting bezel, pull the bezel from the garnish molding with your fingers.
If replacing the inner bezel, remove the bezel from the sunshade shaft and press the new bezel onto the shaft.
Installation Procedure
Route the harness through the mounting bezel.
Insert the mounting bezel into the garnish molding engaging the snap fingers.
Connect the harness to the sunshade electrical connector.
Push the connector up through the bezel and through the hole in the garnish molding.
Position the sunshade approximately midway between the windshield and the side of the vehicle.
Insert the rod with inner bezel firmly attached fully into the mounting bezel.
Rotate the sunshade toward the centerline of the vehicle until the sunshade locks in place.
Like I said its supposed to be easy but there are no specific instructions on how to remove that bezel.

This is the one that I used. Look at both of them and the instructions may be a little more clear when getting two versions of the same procedure. Really nothing hard about it, the second visor will be a snap.

No biggie, replaced my passenger side visor in about 10 minutes max last weekend.
Thanks everybody, just took a few minutes and a little patience. Now the problem is that the proceedure to link the garagedoor opener is different than in 05. Back then they used Homelink and now its somebodyelse and the local dealer is no help. Any thoughts..maybe I'll try DSvettes. Ugh..this is cutting into my drinkin time.

It's Lear Car2U, I think. Here's an older thread with info and Lear's support number. Hope it helps.
Some people have had problems programming the new visor system with newer openers, but our 2009 matched up easily with our old-style dip-switch openers. And it has much more range than the 2006 did.
OK...I solved the programing issue. GM changed from Homelink to Lear car2u. Completely different programing steps. Well now thats over ist time to pour me a cold one. Thanks again everybody its always a pleasure. Cheers!!
And put a little drop of silicone or some lubricant on those mirror hinges...if they get dry, that's when somebody can pull on them and they break....expensive as you found out.
