I got the rear tires replaced on my 09 Z06 today and on the way home, the check engine light came on. The manual says that changing tire size can trigger this, but I replaced the tires with the stock GY.
Think it could still be causing this? I'm still under warranty, but live in rural America and the nearest 'big city' dealership is a couple of hours away (which is where the tires were changed)...not sure when I'll have the time to make the trip again.
...any advice welcome!...

Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to clear the CEL, then initialize the windows. If there is an ongoing problem, the CEL will come back on. If it's a one time fluke, then clearing the CEL will save you the hassle of taking your car back to the dealer.
You should go buy a code reader/eraser. You can get one at any of the larger auto parts joints for $50-100 for a useable basic model. Great tool to have in the tool box. Takes maybe 2 minutes to pull the code and erase.

Amazon currently has a really good price on the Actron CP9410 $45 delivered.
If you have ONSTAR, call them. They can do a diagnostic check & tell you what the problem is.
The only thing Onstar will tell you is "you have a check engine light, take it to the Dealer service dept. in the near future". Unless something drastic has changed they will not tell you what the problem is or give you the exact code.
Pg 3-43: "...replacement of the original tires with other than those of the same Tire Performance Criteria (TPC) can affect the vehicle's emission controls and can cause this light to come on."
The tires are same as the original, GY Supercar...but they look a lot taller...maybe I just wore the tread down more than I thought!

My '08 has had several CEL's for which OnStar has given me the codes when they were called. Maybe its changed but since Dec. '07, been getting these from the "blue" button prior to going to dealer for work.

Onstar has told me what code they were receiving and what it was for. They also let me know that the vehicle was safe to drive and what course of action to take.
Giving the exact code must be a recent addition. OnStar wouldn't for my '05 so I tried it with my '08 (removed the fuel fill cap) and they would only tell me that it was emissions related and to take it to the Dealer. No OnStar for me after the free trial.

Hit onstar...they said it was an exhaust error...
...looking into a code reader/eraser...if I erase, will the computer log that and get me into trouble with the warranty?
I have a 2008 had the CEL come on after re-fueling one day. I reset the gas cap and the CEL did not go away. Took to the dealer and they found the "Evaporative Emission Canister Solenoid" (what ever the hell that is) to be defective. I understand this can just suddenly go out.

Nope, GM will not have a clue that you read and erased the codes. You will simply start "fresh" with history and codes in the ECM.
