I have the blose speakers and they have a very bad hiss (static noise). Also, they sound very loud even at 3 bars. I have a feeling the amp gain is set way too high. Is this something that can be adjusted and if so, where is the amp located? Thanks!
This is a problem area few dealerships can deal with. However, if you troubleshoot its symptoms as though it's a home stereo, you almost always find it's an RF cable problem from the antenna. That hiss you hear is the amplifier cranking its guts out trying to produce audible sound from a very weak input. Restore the input signal with a good cable connection and you can back the amp off 30-40 db (along with the hiss).

How/where would one adjust this? I always thought the Bose "hiss" was "normal" in these cars. My 08 had it, and so does my new GS. While a long ways from perfect, the overall sound quality is OK for my tastes, but I would love to get rid of the hiss if its really possible w/o replacing the whole system.

the head unit is located next to fuses pas.side kick w.
have you added some new elec.? it could be picking that up and giving you static
I did add the m2w to the fuse box... Maybe I should try removing it to see if it helps. If not I will have to read up on detecting bad cables (or maybe just start replacing ones until it improves)

With the volume control. The problem I'm describing is insufficient input being amplified (along with thermal background noise) to an audible level.
