Dear GM,
If you are listening, PLEASE make your C7 convertible design a TRACKABLE design by installing some sort of track-approvable rollover protection. That way you can make a Z06 VERT that would be trackable. We Corvette convertible owners are tired of being left out!
Can you imagine how many folks would have bought a Z06 vs the GS they ended up with if it had the option of a TRACKABLE convertible and an automatic? I know there are some who whine about purity but this is about selling more cars at premium pricing.
Tell your buddies that if it adds any more cost to the car that they are going to drive away a few more customers. I've already passed once on buying convertible when they decided to package the $2,000 power top with the 3LT option package.

..... this is about selling more cars at premium pricing.
That strategy is already not working out too well for GM. That is why the Z06 sales have tanked much because a GS can be bought cheaper.
There will always be a few folks who will pay for a premium package. But right now Corvette sales are putting the car on the endangered species list as GM seems intent upon moving the Corvette's average price up to the $70,000 range.
Even before the bottom dropped out my dealer told me that he was stocking more base cars because he had a lot of buyers wanting Corvettes that could be sold for close to $40,000.

I sympathize with your situation, I have many buddies with verts that want to track them but can't deal with the hassle of installing an aftermarket roll bar (many don't fit under the top when it's up). Try driving 450 miles in April or Oct to Wisc with the top down? Many HSDE will run in the rain too. That's the best way to learn car control I might add.
So the ones that REALLY find tracking more important then having the top of their head burned are buying pre-owned Z06 for $40K and laughing all the way to the track or bank.
The A6 is a worthwhile option but not in its current state.
I doubt GM will do this for liability reasons or whatever they come up with.

I could make an argument that one major reason Z06 sales have tanked as much as they have is because there is no other alternative for a widebody Corvette convertible with an automatic.
I'm sure the dealer did say that. He'd have a lot more buyers for $35k...so what? The lower any cool car goes the more folks will want to buy it.
So who makes this rollbar? Is it certified for any particular groups?
BreathlessPerformance makes it and there is track compliance info on their website. Looks like right now it's $1600 but I believe I've seen it on sale before.
Convertible Corvettes should have roll-over protection even if they are not tracked! Every other high end convertible sports car now has roll-over protection.

It has roll-over protection...just not protection that a track will approve of.
