I think my '08 is out of alignment as it now vibrates at 70+mph after I hit a pothole. I thought it might have been the road.... Don't want to pay for an alignment if I dont need one.
Would ON STAR pick up on it and report or would it show on my DIC, like it does for low air pressure, etc...

Thanks......
I would take it to a Corvette maintenance shop you trust and have them check the car out. First the tires and rims (since you said it started after you hit a pothole; one of the tires or rims may be damaged). If they check out, then have the alignment checked.
Hummmm, thanks! I have the tire warranty...have to read it and see if it covers rims too.... Tire and rim looks OK, "to me"... Seems to me the rims are covered too????? (or maybe I'm dreaming)
I'm going to drive it tonight and if I can get 70 or so, see what it does on different roads.... Any vibration, it goes to the dealer...
I got the tire warranty from the Chevy dealership when I bought my 07 new. Was 400 bucks. They stated they would replace the rim and tire if they were damaged. I said no brainer.
Hit a nasty pothole on the hwy and bent the left front rim and tire developed a bulge in the sidewall.
Dealership of course wanted no part of this and said they would repair the rim (which was bent) or replace with a non-factory OEM rim. I said no thanks.
The tire they said still held air so they would not do anything. I said it was a safety issue.
Bottom line, I called a service and they unbent the rim (the inside part was bent since there are no spokes there to provide strength. I got a new tire installed and balanced it myself.
Vibration is a weird thing and it is sometimes difficult to figure out. Good luck with the dealership.

Hi-Jack.....Ah yes, I remember the sh!ty Michigan roads. That's one thing I don't miss about living there.
I don't know if I'd own a Vette if I still lived the the Metro-D. The roads are so terrible you must constantly have to be on the look out for potholes.
Thanks all.... I did take it out tonight and got to about , well over 80. At 70 the steering wheel has vibration. It doesnt at 65. The steering wheel is in perfect position and the car doesnt pull to either side, just nice and straight.
I'll take it in to the dealership.. I just wanted my Forum Brothers take on this..
If you hit a pothole, the problem might not be a damaged wheel or rim. Check each tire very carefully for a bubble that indicates a ruptured cord in the casing. These typically form in the sidewall and can be on the outside or inside, where it's very hard to spot. If you find one, it's irrepairable.
I did this a week ago and was thinking alignment also. I'm PRETTY sure I have a slight shimmy but it could also be my head. Looking for a good place to bring it to. I bought it at Paramus in NJ and it seems from what I've read hear, not a bad place to bring it.
