For 2008 there is a screw way down there under the boot and a ring on the boot as well to lock it in.I've used the boots without the ring,but I've never used the shift **** out of an earlier Vette because I'm told they won't work.Why not just find one from an 08??

No, you'd be better off trying to find an '08 shift ****. As I recall the shift mounting location changed slightly and they added the chrome ring to the boot. The base of the shift **** is designed to hold the chrome ring up and without the newly designed base of an '08 **** the boot and ring will not attach properly.

Thanks for the answers guys, The reason I asked is I'm selling a shift **** from an 07 ZO6 and a potential buyer wanted to know if it would fit an 08. I guess it won't.
