I just got my 07 Z06. About 1 inch to the left of the starter button is a set of 4 horizontal holes in the shape of a circle. Looks like a place for a microphone or something. What is it? I can't find anything in the manual.
That's where the NCS "New Car Smell" eminates. Be sure to stop by the GM parts counter and get some catridge refills because the stock ones don't last very long.
I have to admit, I can't visualize what you are saying- if they are horizontal, doesn't that imply they are in a line? But you say they are in the shape of a circle?
Ah, okay, I see- they are horizontal slots. http://www.ecklers.com/assets/corvet.../sku/53321.jpg
definitely looks like some sort of venting to speaker. Looks too big for a mic. I might have to swing by my car on the way out and have a look.

If you think that is too big for a mic, look at the one on your driver's side A pillar for the OnStar mic.
Temperature sensor for the climate controls. 2007 owner's manual, page 182.
There is also an inside temperature sensor located to the
left of the ignition switch. The automatic climate control
system uses this sensor to receive information, so if you
block or cover it, the system will not function properly.

I took a look and sure enough, guess it is standard C6 fare as my 09 coupe has one. I was just digging under the dash on my wife's old 3000GT and noticed adjustable vents that I never knew were there. You think you know a car...
