Default Killer Bee 2 - install question

Just recieved my Killer Bee 2 for a 2008 Corvette?? Or did I?

Reading over instructions ...
In most pictures I see the Killer bee with holes on both sides one rectangular for the maf and the other for the PCV..??
Mine has the maf but what about the PCV? Where does it go?

The instructions have limited pictures, appear to be general for Corvettes from 06 Vettes up and Z06 etc....they talk about a vent tube...I am assuming they are talking about the PCV? ....the pictures in the instructions also show a location for what appears to be the system PCV in the hard portion of the Killer Bee...not the soft tube that goes to throttle body.

Also, I recieved a 2nd package from Halltech from Debbie Hall Vp stating:
" Yesterday your order went out but we believe the wrong hose was put on the bridge. This is the right hose for the system. "

The hose that came with the system has a rubber nipple for I believe the PCV the new one (that is supposed to be the correct one ) sent out - has no hole...

CONFUSED....HELP!!!

Thanks!!

Here is what I found out....

They make them two ways ....who knows why and the rep at Halltech never bothered to explain to me why (although I asked). But apparently they come with a hole in the body/bridge (grommet) and with no hole in the body. If you get one without the hole in the body then you should have the hose attachment with a hole/nipple in it. These holes are where the PCV go. Is this mentioned in the instructions....nope.

Halltech sent me one without the hole/grommet in the body and sent me two hoses one with a hole and one without.

Now a couple of other things that are not made clear anywhere and you have to search to find out ....

1. For the hose with the hole in it (not in the body) you will need to reposition the PCV line. Above the crossover line/tubes...
Was this mentioned in the instructions? Nope...I guess they leave it up to you to find out you installed wrong ...
Here is the link..
http://www.halltechsystems.com/category_s/129.htm

2. To get off the MAF off our stock system you will need a Torx 6 point tool..if you have a Z06 they were sending out a 5 point security torx (which is impossible to find anywhere) with it - unsure if they are stil doing it.....So if you get the Killer Bee and think its going to be a 15 minute install ...think again. You need the tool....so you have to go to the hardware store and track it down. Would be nice if they mentioned it in their ads for install ....nope. However, in there defense all intakes have this problem and none mention it....

3.UPDATE: see below post #7 Torx 6 point tool mentioned in the - Killer Bee 2 install and incorrect guide -is incorrect for an 08. Mine used t15.

Also, the instructions for the Killer Bee 2 are vague, no pictures and basically suck....however I found this install on youtube ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S74V6_NOcDU

Shows you how to take the maf sensor off without damaging it....etc etc.

This is much easier to follow than the paper instructions (I think Halltech made the video too) but again do they make reference to it in the install instructions....Nope...

All in all its a simple install but for over 450 bucks you would expect a little more clarity on all the simple little issues that keep you guessing....I hope this makes the install fast and without confusion for others.

I had the KB 1 and had no issues installing it. It was an easy install, however I did go onto Halltech's website and watch the installation video and read the instructions posted before the install.

The air bridge (hard plastic intake) should have a square opening on the drivers side to install the MAF sensor. Make sure you install the MAF sensor with the arrow pointing toward the engine indicating air flow. For the PVC valve, I used the oem nipple and inserted it into the rubber coupler. I rotated the coupler and re-routed the PVC hose over the lines on the intake manifold and snapped in the PCV for an easy fit. Once lined up, I tightened the clamps using a screw driver, caution not to over tighten the clamps or you can warp the air bridge.

Interesting that you received two rubber couplers with the K.B. II? Let us know how the car feels after the install of the K.B. II?

I asked the exact same questions when i received the KB II. The PCV vent tube actually taps into the smooth bellows not the side (hard plastic) of the KB II bridge. They have old pictures on their website and released to their vendors for advertising that show an early version of the KB II. See my thread here:

Cool glad to be able to help. I had a lot of fitment issues with the one I installed also. Especially getting the beehive to fit around the KB. Install took all of 20 -30 minutes taking my time but I had to go back the second day and it took me over an hour of readjusting everything here and there to get it all to fit to my satisfaction. While each car may be a little different and each kit is also a little different it makes consistency with installations hard to come by so far as fitment is concerned IMO.

Another thing.... I just discovered in the Killer bee 2 instructions. It mentions Torx 6 point tool to take the MAF off ...(WRONG at least for a 2008 LS3) . So I went to the local Ace hardware and bought this nifty tool....because it was the only thing that had a T6 fitting...here is the tool...

http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/Pro...px?SKU=2102333

The thing is, the Torx 6 (they mention in their instructions ) at least for a 2008 LS3 is not the correct size Im lucky that the tool had a couple of torx ends including the T15 that fit perfect.

Did Halltech mention in the instructions that the Torx size may be larger or smaller ....once again ...NO.

Im not trying to be a D-I-C-K but you would think that Halltech could clean up the install instructions a bit (like mention that you need a torx tool but that the sizes differ on each model instead of having people buy a Torx 6 get home and have to go back to the hardware store.....makes me wonder if they even tested it on the 08 Ls3 otherwise why not mention this in the instructions??

Pet peave of mine....vendors selling stuff without precise install instructions....hate it.
Put some tractions bars on another car of mine ...half of the instructions were incorrect...

I didnt buy a 450 dollar product to have to do research ....this is an easy install but could have been easier if I didnt have to figure pieces out because they are too lazy to update thier install instructions.....blah blah soap box blah blah....LOL

Installed it today very easy.
While going through the steps while installing....you guessed it another part of the instructions that do not apply to a 2008 LS3. The maf sensor has a gray security tab that they say to take out. Well on the 08 you just need to pull it out tell it stops. If you attempt to pull it out as they state it appears you can break it and it is unnecessary to pull it out.

I used a screw driver from the top and pryed it out a bit ( small amount of force is all that is needed) then gently pull the gray tab out tell it stops. I then pressed the maf connector tab on the bottom and pulled it out gently.

Dropped in the beehive too....not really an install its a breeze and the instructions for this are good.

All done...

Now I need to put in my 4 inch Corsa Extremes that I just got in the mail!!
