You need the phone to discover the car, not the other way around. Remember that the car is just the same as a $20 bluetooth headset, so the phone is the master device....which seems counterintuitive because the car is big and expensive. I have a 2007 so I don't know how to put the car into its "discoverable" mode...that will be in the manual. But you need to put the car into discoverable mode and then have the phone discover the car.

Right after I paired up my blackberry with my 2011, I was in the car when a call came in. I was looking around for my blackberry but it wasn't with me. After hanging up the call, I found my phone in the kitchen, about 40 or so feet away, with a few walls, water heater, and furnace in between.
So, when you pair and see several bluetooth devices, it could be something from one of your neighbors, or another bluetooth-capable device in your house.
