Thanks, yup you just leave the orignal black in there and just go through the holes with a curved needle and thread the red right into it
Did it seem like the needle was cutting/tearing/breaking/fraying the thread that was already in there? I am seriously thinking about taking this on, but I don't want to take a chance at the original thread prematurely breaking down.
Thanks for posting pics. It looks like it turned out real well!
I might need to find out where Big Bird and Tweety Bird shop and get me some Yellow thread.
N..I..C..E.... !!!!!
I will definetly do that to my Corvette once I receive it. Mine will be triple black.... I mean... I ordered the red stitching, but now my dealer contacted me and told me that I needed to order the 4lt option in order to be able to get the stitching option.... Thus, I will keep the 3lt option with the ebony seats and once I receive it I will definetly do this.... N..I..C..E....!!!!!

nope the black thread that is already on there is pretty thick, on some parts i had to use a small flat head screw driver to wiggle the leather around to get the needle to go through the next hole and the black thread held up just fine! I do recomend that when you buy your colored thread get nylon and try to get the thickest that they have, it will be easier to see and wont fray from being pulled through the leather 10000 times.
could you show us or explain how you started threading the shiftnob and how you finished at the last thread when you tied the knot.
thanks
on the shift **** i started at the bottom. What i did was tied a big ole knot and one on end of the thread and the needle on the other. You will see that there are 2 pieces of leather, the front and the back...so what i did was i took the needle and went through the center (where the 2 pieces of leather meet) and then into the 1st hole where the leather goes straight across from left to right and just started from there. I pretty much did the same thing once i finished. The orginal link i posted wasnt too discriptive on how to do this but if you just take your time and try to figure it out when you do it you should have no problems, thats what i did! and if you mess it up you can always just pull the colored thread out and it be like you never touched it

i havnt tried to do the seats yet cause the stitching on those is different from the steering wheel and shift ****. It looks like it would be a major pain but worth it. The best way i can think of doing it is taking the seat out of the car and getting the leather cover off the seat itself then going from there.
