hi forum readers i got a question, i got a 07 vert thinking of installing a visor with the homelink in it from gm parts house my question is is the car wired for it hopefully the plug for it is allready in the post or pillar if anybody know it will make my job easy
Yes, the car is wired for it. I replaced my non HomeLink visor with a Homelink visor and it was plug-n-play. Keep in mind that there are 2 types of visors. Homelink visors were used in Corvettes up until Oct 06. After that GM went to a Lear Car2U visor. GM made the switch mid-year so some early 07's have Homelink but post Oct 06 Corvettes will have the Lear visor. They do basically the same thing but the HomeLink is easier to program most times. There have been some issues with the Lear visors but I believe the company provides pretty good support if you run into trouble.
You will not find the Homelink visor available new any longer. eBay is a good place to find HomeLink visors. Expect to pay between 100-150 for a nice used one.
I have the homelink and don't care for it as it's not easily programmed. My sister has a gate that I can program using her remote but when I do that I lose my garage door program. I've tried everything to get both her gate and garage door to function and I can get one or the other to work. So I bought a twenty dollar remote fob that works much better than the homelink.
I bought the remote fob at Home Depot and it was made by Chamberlain. Works great.
I had the Homelink and it worked OK, but I found it difficult to program. My sunvisor broke and the replacement sunvisor has the Lear Car2U transmitter. I found the Lear Car2U to be very easy to program. However, the Lear Car2U does not work with my in home X10 lamp modules.
