What's an "American" car.....If a car is assembled in the US and 75% (by value) or more of it's parts must come from the US or Canada, it's domestic.....
Interesting that the Honda Accord, a bunch of Toyota's, and even the Mitsubishi Eclpipse are "more" American than the Vette....

51% would be more than half - that's the number that should be used, not 75%.
That's what the US Government says...if 75% (by value) or more of a car's parts come from the US or Canada, it's considered a domestic priduct....fro example, the Chevy Cruze, built in Lordstown, OH, is not considered a domestic product (65%)....The Ford F-150 is only 61% American/Canadian parts....

I'm betting that is for tax purposes more than anything...
This whole thing is old news. The MN6 tranny is made in Mexico.....brakepads are made in Austrailia. Lots of parts are made elsewhere.

I only posted this for informational purposes as it detailed every make and model built in the US and the % of parts that actually come from the US and Canada.....it's the first time I ever saw such and article and found it very interesting....I apologize if it's old news to you....

Don't get me wrong, thanks for posting the article...I look forward to reading it. Just saying the fact that American cars have large quantities of non-American parts is not new.
Follow the money. Profits are a lot harder to track than country of origin, but my definition of "Made in America" would have to take into account where the profits go and where they're taxed.
