Default Replacing wheel speed sensor?

Quite frankly, I have no idea what is involved.

I believe at least one of my wheel speed sensors has gone bad because at any given time after starting to drive my car (usually within 1-2 minutes) the AH, ABS and Traction Control all light up saying they need service.

Also usually during my first braking after starting the car I get physical push-back from the ABS system (but never again during that time driivng).

Because all three are going off at once I believe it is probably a wheel speed sensor since all three reference that.

Where exactly is the sensor located?

Is there any way to determine which sensor is bad?

How do I inspect/repair/replace it?

Thanks for your help!

Seems unlikely, they're pretty reliable. If one was bad you should get a MIL. Get a code reader on it, bad Wheel Speed Sensor circuits should return C0035, 40, 45 or 50.

Well perhaps it's just a poor connection (which I've read about a lot with corvettes).

The wheel sensors are really just an LED, so are pretty reliable. If you do need to replace though, it is very easy. A nut or two and a plug...piece of cake. With all those warnings, you need to get a code reader on it. I'll bet it is not something serious...usually, the bigger the failure, the easier the diagnosis.

Well I'll check em out this weekend.

It seems like it's pretty common for the female end to be causing a bad connection and need to be bent down a bit.

If that still doesn't fix it I'll take it somewhere to read the codes.

Do you regularly telescope the wheel in and out? If so, I would bet on the harness on the column over a wheel sensor...

Has nothing to do with that. Mine doesn't have a telescopic wheel

That code info only works on C5s. You can go to almost any parts store and they will hook up their reader and give you the codes for free though.

Yeah, I assumed it was C5 only.

Anyway, I'm just going to use a multimeter to figure out which sensor is giving me problems and I'll go from there.

I had a wheel speed sensors replaced on my C5 more than once. It's not unlikely at all that they go bad.

Even if he had the telescopic wheel it still wouldn't be in consideration. That part doesn't affect all 3 functions of the ABS system. The parts that affect all 3 are limited.

To the OP:
You can't just go around throwing parts at the car or it will get expensive very quickly. You need to find somebody with a scanner that car read the ABS codes. Probably won't find that at AutoZone or Advance Auto. If it is a sensor or the wiring to the sensor the codes will lead you to the correct area. By the way the sensor is part of the wheel bearing and is replaced by replacing the wheel bearing. It isn't an LED like mentioned in a post above. It is a Hall Effect sensor.

That's right...I was thinking about those ambiance LEDs when writing that...it is a hall effect (magnetic) sensor...oh well, LEDs, schmeLEDs!

I'm experiencing this exact same problem with my 2007 C6.

Car is at Dealer, but they don't seem to have clear indication of the cause.

How did you fix your problem?

Any Helps will be greatly Appreciated!

I had the same 3 codes on my 2006 C6 Corvette:
Service Anti-lock brakes
Service active handling system
Service traction control system
The Chevrolet dealership (Michael Chevrolet in Fresno, California) said they had to replace the left front hub because the speed sensor was bad. $850. But the problem is now fixed.

And my bank account is considerably light. :-(

So glad I learned how to turn a wrench. That is a $40 repair with a no-name bearing and a couple of hours of your time.
