Default Convertible Top

The water on the convertible top of my 2011 C-6 really beads up. Is there anything I need to put on the top to keep the top water proof? Is it best to just leave it alone?

I would leave it alone until you start noticing it not beading up. Then you MAY want to look at using RaggTopp to clean and treat it.

Scott, the 'Bugman' has a great site with lots of good info. He has pics and info on the convertible top and how the water beads up. Look under "RaggTopp" on the left side.

Be sure to use it on a calm day or use painters tape on the glass around the top. I really had a tough time getting that dried RAGGTOPP chemical off my front and rear glass.

Water beading is a good thing.

Has anyone tried the 303 Fabric Convertible Top Kit, Aerospace Protectant? If you have what do you think of the product, I have a friend that swears by it.

Leave it be-----perfectly normal with all convertibles (not just vettes)

If it bothers you that much, after it rains just wipe it down with a soft rag---

Now stop worrying, and enjoy that beautiful car!

I currently have a Mustang GT vert (same fabric style top) Its normal (trying my hardest to get into a Vette, but as always money is ALWAYS an obstacle for me)

I use 303 products, but I use fabric guard for the top. The Aerospace Protectant is not designed for the material Corvette tops are made of.

The convertible Mustangs that I have seen use a vinyl fabric, not canvas like the Corvette. Different protectant would be needed.

IMO just leave it alone. Every time you put chemicals on a surface, especially something a convertible top, it has a reaction which alters the original make-up. I try to avoid chemicals wherever possible.

Over 6 years with no chemicals and my top looks great and water beads up just as it was new. I do keep it clean with a fabric brush and never put it down dirty.

I used Raggtop on my Z4.. and will use it on the Vette.. but only once every couple of years. You need to make sure you do the proper cleaning before applying it. Using a large sheet or blanket to cover the front/side windows works great too, then just tape up the rear window and cover the rear with another blanket and spray away.

Since I use my Vette year round, I apply RaggTopp every spring. So far my 2006 top still looks brand new.

We have used this on four different tops, two Corvettes a C5 and our
C6, The Thunderbird Convertible and the Solara Convertible. Worked great on all of them. Really makes the water bead up and flow off.

I think the NCM still stocks and sells these products a cleaner and a sealer.

Good stuff.

I forgot to mention that every once in a while I use a shop vac to really get the top clean, and of course I keep the entire car covered when not in use.

Vacuum, wash, then treat with Ragg Top or 303 FABRIC protectant.
