Default thermometer stuck.

So it was a beautiful 75 degree morning this morning. Fired up the challenger and got about a block down the road and thought "windows down just aint cutting it" went home, took the cover off, dropped the top, and took the vette out. How ever I looked down and saw it was only registering the outside temp was 60 degrees, figured it was just low since it was in the garage. But 3 hours of sitting in the sun later, It had only gone up to 62, its about 85 out now according to my other vehicles and the bank sign. Whats gone wrong here? Is it the sensor and something I can replace, or do I need to take it in to the dealer. Its an 07 and completely out of warranty, even though its only got 6000 miles on the OD, I voided it with my mods, and b2b would be up anyway so what am I looking at as far as cost and time here. Or is there a simple fix im missing? Thanks guys.

They don't change as often as you think. It can take quite a while if you are driving around in slow traffic. See if you can get it out on a road where you can do over 55 mph for 5 minutes or so and see if it changes. I had the same thing happen on my 08 last year at this time and ran it into the dealer as I was getting ready to go on a trip and it wouldn't let the AC come on. They told me to take it for a drive at highway speeds and if it didn't correct to come back. I didn't have to go back.

Suggest you reset it and see if that doesn't clear the error. Hold down the "Fan Speed", "Windshield Defrost" & "Rear Window Defrost" buttons on the HVAC head unit simultaneously for about 3 seconds. This procedure should cause the display to reset and instantly display the correct, current outside ambient air temperature.

It won't update until it is driven a bit. As above, you can force an immediate reading by hitting the first second and fourth buttons from the right simultaneously.

Simultaneously is the key, if it is not fairly exact, it will just turn on the defroster.
