I had my 2006 vette hooked up to a CTEK battery charger for the last 4 weeks. I went to start it yesterday and the battery was dead. I took my red-top optima battey back to the AutoZone store and it showed only 4 amps of power left in it. They slow charged it for several hours and it has held its power. I installled it back in the car today and everythiing seems to be OK. I did not have my vette hood fully closed during the 4 week period. Would the underhood light still stay on? Would this light draw enough current to negate the maintenance level of the CTEK charger? Please any assistance with this situation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Something not adding up here. Seems to me your CTEK might be the problem. It should be keeping your battery at 13.9 volts with minimal current. A simple check with a VOM would verify this.
If your battery is holding fine after the slow charge then I would check your CTEK.
What were the lights on the CTEK charger indicating before you disconnected the charger and tried to start the car?
The battery charge light should of been solid green and indicating it is providing a Maintenance Charge (full battery symbol) and the selector mode light should of been solid orange and on the vehicle symbol. This is based on you indicating you had the charger connected for the last four weeks.

Sounds like a CTEK failure. The car has an automatic powerdown after 20 minutes. From the manual:
Battery Run-Down Protection
This vehicle has a feature to help prevent the battery from being drained in case any of the following lamps are left on; the underhood lamp, if your vehicle has this feature, vanity mirror lamps, cargo lamps, reading lamps, console or glove box lamps. If any of these lamps are left on, they will automatically time-out after about 20 minutes. To reset it, all of the above lamps must be turned off or the ignition key on.
GM REALLY ought to put one of these manuals in every car they sell.
