LS6 Powered Caddy CTS
If they put the LS6 in the CTS they will get better performance
and probably better gas mileage. The CTS is currently rated
at a pathetic 25/18 with a 5 speed manual. Heck, the new BMW
745i (4300+ lbs) is rated at 26/18.
If Lutz goes for the LS6 CTS, it might be able to compete with the M5
but only until '05 when the new 500HP V-10 M5 debuts.

What's the bet this "Caddy" is actually a Holden Commodore...
The Delta chassis is replaced by the Epsilon chassis on which the CTS is built.
So in effect CTS is the next-generation Holden.

I guess I don't understand this line of reasoning...
If the Z06 is a great car...and someone really loves the performance, styling, etc...
How would putting the Z06 engine in a completely different car with different styling in a completely different category make the Z06 any less great or less of a car?
I don't get it?

The Holden Commodore is built on the "Delta" chassis, shared with the Opel Omega and Cadillac Catera.

I'm tired of seeing all these German around here. If GM doesn't build the best damn Caddy that they can, then they don't deserve to be in business. Any company that limits the ability of their future products because it will be better than a current product is asking for trouble.
Happens more than you would think.
If they can make the CTS outperform the C5, then they had better do it. That just means that the C6 will HAVE TO BE that much better.

The CTS is the first car to come out on the new sigma platform. So if anything, the next commodore will be a CTS, not the other way around. Besides...platform sharing doesn't make them the same car. Everyone knows about Holdens, and how cool they are, but the CTS isn't one. Now the GTO is going to be a different story.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but during the glory days of the muscle cars (late 60s early 70s) the were lots of GM products faster than the Vette. You could get Camaros, Chevelles, GTOs, etc., etc. that were faster than base Vettes. I don't have any problem with cars other than the Corvette benefiting from the work its engineers are doing. Not all of my cars can be two seaters, so an American-made, V8 powered, rear-wheel-drive sounds good to me!
The Corvette Z06 has become the performance icon for GM. They shouldn't water that down by putting the motor in a Cadillac.
