Can you forward the BG to Carlisle route? Can you recommend stopping points on the way?
Alan
Take I-65 North for 72 miles to the Blue Grass Parkway
Take Blue Grass Parkway towards Lexington and follow for 74 miles to route 60
Take route 60 about 4 miles to Lexington KY
In Lexington take the 60 Bypass around the north of Lexington to Broadway (aka rte 68)
Turn left onto Broadway and follow 1 mile to entrance to I-64 East (on your left)
Take I-64 East for 173 miles to exit 59 in Charleston WV.
From there take I-79 North for 150 miles to exit 148 for I-68.
Take I-68 East for 115 miles to I-70
Take I-70 East for 25 miles to I-81
Take I-81 North for 55 miles to exit #47 in Carlisle Pa.
Turn left at end of exit ramp onto rte 34
Follow rte 34 about 2 miles to the Carlisle Fairgrounds on your right.
Even though this is mostly Interstate highways, it IS very scenic, especially the 150 miles on I-79....
As for where to stay, whenever we travel we just wing it and stay where ever we land. I have no places in mind. Maybe others can assist with that part...

BUT, I have followed very few routes anywhere east of the Mississippi that are designated on a Rand McNally map as scenic, where you could see much beyond the tree walls. I traveled that section between Charleston and Morgantown a couple of years ago and it didn't leave a lasting impression in my mind. Maybe I'm just more used to the western scenic routes where you can usually see 10 miles or more in at least one direction.
Thanks for yoiur help. I have to say that I've found my GM nav to be consistently unreliable on rural roads. As a matter of fact our GM navs have become the brundt of many a joke, My new 2011 Z doesn't have a factory nav as a result. The reason I'm looking for advance routing is so I can prepare a passout for the 6 or 7 cars following. I don't want to have too many u-turns and ooopses on route. It would be difficult to not have hotel reservations in advance as we need a minimum of 4 rooms at the hieght of the season. Thanks for your help.

AAA maps seem the opposite- if AAA says it's sscenic, then it really is. But AAA fails to mark most of the scenic roads, and their maps are free to members but overall rather poor.
The MAD motorcycle touring maps are nice drives, but not necessarily scenic.
