Well they eat through things like clothes. Check the rubber seal around the headlight and look for some sort of hole I guess. As far as getting it out ask rlseabring he has experience with headlights and is always asking for a bad pair. My guess is he refinishes them to re sell so he's probably familiar with taking them apart and putting them back together. Good luck.
Yeah there's a 1/4 inch gap around bezel that's how he must have got in but he's dead now and cant fly out. trying to figure a way to get 1/4 inch vacuum in that gap around bezel, irritates the crap out of me everytime i look at it
I did a mod on one of my bikes once that I had to vacuum out shavings through a small hole. I took a little rubber hose that fit in the hole, taped it to the end of my shop vac and inserted it into the hole and cleaned it out.. pretty easy! Hope the hole is big enough for something like that.
I wish I had an answer for ya but all I can do is relate to your problem. I have a huge horse fly in mine. It was so embarrassing, the first day I drove my vette to work and showed it off to my friend. He walks around the car, looks me dead in the eye and says "what's up with the bug in your headlight". Not, "sweet ride", he focuses on the stinkin' bug. I plan to change out my lens soon (they look crappy too) and say good bye to Mr. Bug.
I can relate to this problem. I have a spider (now dead) inside my 2010 GS passenger side headlight assembly. Cob webs everywhere. I could have the entire headlight module replaced (under warranty) but I am afraid the dealership may screw things up. So, for now I'll just live with it.

I think the next time my lights are apart I'll use a rubber gasket and keep my lens removable for such occasions. I keep getting those extra large mosquito's in my passenger side light. No visual entry point.
The headlight assemblies are not sealed air tight.
This allows moisture/condensation to evaporate.
Unfortunately, bugs can get in too.
If you leave the car out in the sun for a few days, and/or use a hairdryer you may be able to dry out/shrink the culprit to the point that you may be able to suck it out with a piece of aquarium tubing attached to your vac.
