Default Dancing Passenger Window

Anybody have a window (either side) malfunction when the door is closed? When I shut my passenger door, the window indexes (goes all the way up) and then down that same amount (about an inch). It will continue its "dance" (up/down, up/down, up/down) until I lock the doors. Anyone? Anyone??

My car is an 08 Convertible.

Have you tried re-indexing the windows? That or disconnect the battery for a time and maybe that will get rid of the ghost in the machine?

Have you tried resetting the window indexing to see if that would fix it?

Either the inside or outside door open 'button' is stuck in the down position. Clean or replace buttons. Probably the outside one, since that is the one that gets more dirt, water, etc.

Do you mean the black pad on the outside or the pushbutton on the inside?

Can anyone talk me through getting the door panel off?

Here's the DIY for cleaning the outside switch pads.....2 screws to remove from the car then 6 screws to take them apart:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-pads-too.html

And here's the TSB about it where GM just replaced the pads but that "usually" isn't necessary if you're willing to do the cleaning:

My car is an 08 Convertible.
I had this problem in my '09 coupe and I didn't even have to open the passenger door for the windiow to do it's little dance. I would just randomly go into the routine of down/up/down/up/down up for about 45 sec. The window switches had no effect while this was going on. Since it was in warranty, I took it to the dealer to let Carlos deal with it. Took it in in the morning and early afternoon Carlos called me and told me to come get it. It was fixed.

When I got there he handed me my Window Valet that plugs into the OBD port. He said they had just removed it and the windows were fine now. At the time I didn't believe him, but it's been about 9 months and it hasn't happened since. So it was probably the little aftermarket device that had gone south on me.

If you have a Window Valet installed, you might try removing it and see if that makes a difference for you.

This happened on my 08Z. The dealer had to replace the door module, not the door switch.

The same thing happened to by base 2008, but it seems to have cleared up on its own. I am going to save this post though,,,,very valuable info in case it happens again. Its really very annoying when it happens.

I don't have a valet anything installed but I do have the mild to wild switch. I just need to break down and let the dealer fix it. I just hate to let them do anything.

Took mine in simply to get batteries for the FOB's and when I got the car back the service dept guy says, "I don't know if you noticed this or not..." ~ It was doing the up/down/up/down thing. - Uh, yeah, I think I would have noticed that.

Anyway, it ended up being the touch pad. They replaced it and it stopped doing that.
