I agree, my car sat all winter, no tender, started right up!
My ZR1 battery will last 20 days before not being able to start the car. My 07 Z06 lasted about 14 days. If its warm out I will hook up the battery tender, if it’s cold and I will not be driving for a while I just take the battery out.
As for the fob, there is a period of time where the car will illuminate the start button when I walk near the car. I usually notice it after I have driven the car, walked into the store, and see the button illuminate through the window when walking back to the car.
Mine is programmed to lock when I walk away. However, I've had the same thing happen (found it unlocked in the garage) so the system is apparently not 100% reliable. For that reason, I always hit the lock button when I leave the car in a public place just to make sure.
Im gonna chime in here, heres what i got.....6 mos old red top optima battery.First time ever i left my fob in the cabinets 6 ft away from the car( usually leave them in the house)i opened the car door last week and it was unlocked because the fob was in the cabinet, usually it will lock.I have not started the car in @least 2weeks and tried yesterday and she was drained only 8.1 volts on the dic.Ihave left the car for more than 2 weeks before and no issues.I DO believe that if left close enough the fob and your car will talk thus slowly draining the bat.....i know there was a past thread about this and have always made a conscience effort to not leave the fob in the garage near the car,,,,,,,,let me know if this has happened to anyone before,,,,,also when i discovered the battery was dead i accidentally closed the door and couldnt get out( felt pretty stupid locked in my corvette)luckily had enough juice to pop the rear hatch and have wifey pull the ripcord.........we need a rip cord pull closer( glove box or center console)
