I just got a new PVC catch can and was a little surprised when I went to install it, because there is a resonator sitting where the catch cans normally mount. I did a search and found several mounting options...but, none of them allowed easy emptying of the catch can. For my use I need to be able to easily empty the catch can because at some tracks (like Autoclub speedway aka California speedway) you need to empty the catch can after each session.
Here is the solution I came up with....
First, I changed the orientation of the hose fittings on the top of the can, and added a 1/4 turn ball valve on the bottom.
Next I installed the can to the frame next to the radiator and ran the drain hose out through the radiator shroud. So to empty the can I just put an empty oil can under the drain hose under the radiator shroud and then reach down and open the valve.
Here are some shots of the installation.

pm sent. I've been having hell trying to get mine in a workable place on my ls3, I've tried a couple of different places and none work with a crap. I was looking at something like what you've done, even considering mounting it to the shroud which directs air into the radiator. My problem is my bracket has an allen screw to set the height of the can, and that stupid hole is on the back side, so you basically have to take the hole thing out to empty it. Bad design in my opinion. I'm curious if you just screwed a sheet metal screw into the frame. My concern is great the first time, but since mine has to be taken off everytime due to that damn allen screw, I need a spot where I can perhaps go with a screw/nut/washer.
Anyone have ideas out there?
Great. Could you clarify how you mounted the can. I can't quite tell from the pictures how the supplied bracket is bolted to the car, though I can see that it is.

I drilled a hole in the frame and taped the hole so it would have threads. Then you just bolt it in place.
One note for anyone that does this installation. Make sure you test fit the can prior to drilling the hole in the frame. You have to make sure that the hinge clears the can when the hood closes.

Dumb question. What and where does the vendor recommend? If there is a problem maybe they should be alerted. They could make the necessary change and the installation easier.

I can't speak for the vendors that sell this product...but, I believe it was originally designed for the C5 and on that car there was room near the head (on the passenger side) to mount this. It can be mounted in this location on non LS3 C6 cars also (although I have no idea how you would easily empty it as designed. On the LS3 cars there is a resonator sitting where the catch can would go. Some people have moved the installation further back under the fuel rail covers....however, that installation is right next to the exhaust and is challenging to empty. It could work fine I suppose if you don't need to empty the can often. Because some of the tracks I run on require emptying the can between sessions I needed something that was easier to empty.
