As the proud new owner of a GS coupe, I'm eligible for either the Bondurant or Ron Fellows driving school. Can anyone offer an unbiased comparison of the two? My dealer was steering me toward Bondurant ..... but my wife likes the thought of going to Vegas. Your opinions would be appreciated.
Can't speak towards Bondurant however I've attended the Level 1 driving school at Spring Mtn and it was a blast. So much so that I'll be flying back down this Saturday and will be retaking Day 3 of Level 1 to knock the rust off my driving skills and then taking the 2 day Level 2 next Thurs. and Friday. The instructors and all staff are very pleasant, patient and helpful and couldn't be more customer friendly. Cars are well maintained and all accommodations from their rental condo units, to the gym and the club house where meals are served are excellent. Practically over the top.
Now for the bad news. Bringing your wife is a good thing however the problem develops during the 1 hr commute to and from the track in Pahrump each morning and again in the afternoon. 8 hrs of training, concentration and keeping the car on the pavement will take it out of you and having to add 2 hrs to each day won't be much fun, including the fact your spouse will no doubt want to go out and do something each evening in Vegas and you'll want to call it an early night after a very busy and tiring day.
I read this advice before I went last Sept. and stayed at the track condos and it sure is nice to just go out and find some place to eat in Pahrump and then be back at the track for the evening and relax before calling it a day and doing it all over again the next day.
I read of some couples where she stayed in Vegas and he stayed in Pahrump during the days of track training. An option but will require dual rental accommodations each night.
Enjoy the school regardless of which one you attend you will learn a lot.
I attend a four-day Bondurant driving course last year. The Bondurant instructors and staff were outstanding and very helpful, also had the chance to meet with Bob Bondurant. Spent about 30 minutes in classroom go over basic track rules and driving techniques the rest was spent driving on the autocross track and the other three tracks at Firebird Raceway. Stayed at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort a real nice place, great pool and gym and a nice looking golf course, and is only about 1 mile drive from the Firebird Raceway. There is also a riverboat the runs between the Resort and casino.
Regardless of which one you choose to attend you will learn a lot. My autocross driving skills where taking to the next level and beyond.

You know I don't honestly know what their condo units run per night as I stayed in one as did a friend who went with me in a 2nd unit and the rooms were comped as we had a friend in Pahrump who knows the operations manager and he offered to provide us lodging during our Level 1 track training session. I'm fairly certain the cost of a room at the track facilities will be comparable to one you could get at a local motel in Pahrump. Pahrump is a bit of a berg compared to Las Vegas but there are lodging facilities in town as well as a casino or two. But nothing compared to the casinos and 5 star hotels in Vegas.
I'll shoot an e-mail to the track staff and request they jump in to this post and post prices for the lodging they offer.
How do you get this? I bought a Z06 and have not seen hide nor hair of this, although I bought it and signed during the promotional timeframe I believe.

All you need to do is call the school you plan to attend, and give them your VIN. They will get confirmation from GM, and set you up. I go to Bondurant next month. Cant wait!

If you bought new, you get it.
I just got my large black envelope about 6 weeks after purchase,
but it kept track of by VIN, witch the school recieves.

oo ok its good to have friends
i would likley be going alone and trying to fly down to vegas and find a way to the track, probably end up in a rental
Here's my experience at Spring Mountain. Can't tell you what the condos cost as rates may change with season and availability but I paid $95 a night for first class accomodations. Give them a call, the sales staff are very helpful. For a view of the course go to you tube and search "Ron Fellows at Spring Mountain" and see a pro driving the course in a ZR1!

You have to have taken delivery between January 1 and February 28 to qualify. And, if you qualified, you will (should) get a large black envelope in the mail.
I also received mine about six weeks after taking delivery.
