Default Any News on 2012/13 Power Upgrade?

Looking to see if GM Has any plans to upgrade the HP for 12/13 maybe it has been discussed but I did not see it? It is getting harder for me to get another C6 with all the other models and brands getting serious HP upgrades. Looking at the 2012 GTR Over 500hp, The new Camaro ZL1 over 500HP, New Mustangs Shelby over 500hp, BMW M6 going to close to 600hp The 650 over 400hp. I want a new C6 But with all the newer models coming I am not sure? The z06 is out for me as I have pins in my right shoulder so I need an automatic. I really hope GM steps up and pumps up some more performance out of this great machine.

All I have heard is that they are either going to stay with the LS3 at 430/436 HP or go to the new 5.5 at around 440 HP. I dont think anyone really knows for sure yet...

Tadge J (Vette's Chief Engineer) made mention at Sebring few weeks back that absolutely NO info will be released until the bash at NCM....
Don't hold your breath about C6. I do NOT believe they will put any addl resources into C6. Being directed at C7. He did ask the audience (Vette diehards) if C7 should be either "revolutionary" OR "evolutionary".....majority said latter. He also asked the faithful if Vette should lose some of it storage/luggage space so Vette can be smaller/lighter....yes was majority.Anyway, with economics and GM bankruptcy in clear memory I doubt very seriously that C6 will get any additional engineering tweaking since C7 IS under development.

I wish they would tweak it just a bit for the last year model so C6 can go out with a 'bang' since it has been such a 'awesome' Vette.....

The 480 HP LS3 thats already available would be a step in the right direction.

I don't think any changes to the C6 will be made.

All efforts are on C7 development.

I dont see it especially when you consider the Z06 has 505 and the ZR1 has 640.

Kerbeck has zero Z06s in stock and zero inbound.

GS sales have hurt the Z06. Wonder what the C7 will have to offer in terms of Z06 model?

yeah i have followed the continued decline of the Z06 after the GS came out. I would have bought a Z06 in a heartbeat if I was able to afford one.

Im not even looking forward to the C7 from all the talk ive heard about it. It sounds like it may just be a short lived generation anyways and not a complete re-design of the car. Who knows.

Looks like the end may be near for the Z06. I would have gotten the Z had it been available in a drop top...

Your post is confusing to me. Do you want more hp for bragging rights alone? Is the absolute number of hp your goal? If so 500 is certainly better than 430 or 436 and really really close to 505.

But, if you're looking for weight to hp it's a much different story. Furthermore, do you want only straight line performance or road course performance or both?

Personally, I wouldn't want a Camaro it if came with the 638 hp of the ZR1. The Camaro is going to need serious suspension and rear end work to put down the 500 ( IMO after all it IS a Camaro/ you can dress up a pig but it's still a pig etc. )

What if the C7 loses weight and size? The actual hp could perhaps even drop somewhat from C6 levels but the car might be faster.

As for Mustangs.....IMO they put the hp to the ground much better than any Camaro. They are stronger better performance cars. However, they are still Mustangs no matter the hp or fancy sounding model name.

I would be happy if they offered forged internals and a beasty clutch...in a base car.

then It would be over for the competition. well I mod so I would add a superchager with about 12-15 boost with the peace of mind forged internals.

I got one because it wasn't. We cancel each other out and the Z is safe!

That's for the C7.

The OP is asking if any changes for the final C6 years.
