Default Custom Centre Caps & Some More 3M Wrap Comments

Took some inspiration from CF member "perfectlyfrank" who did a great job on his TSW wheels centre caps. Took a simpler approach using the new 3M Scotchprint 1080 CF wrap and some Jake decals. I just covered the TSW caps with the wrap material, applied the decal and added some protection with some clear-coat lacquer.

I experimented with the amount of clear coat and you can see in the one unmounted piece - the wavy-edged top piece in the pic of 3 - how the CF washes out if you hit it with too many coats of the clear - not good.

So, I settled on one coat of clear for the finished product.

Cheers vetfever

Wow looking good Jack. I see your getting the hang of the scotchprint...judging by the clear on these one coat seems to be the compromise between washed out and a visible cf pattern. Time to move on to bigger things now...lol wink wink

Am I missing something? Wouldn't he have to be selling these in order to be infringing on a GM trademark? I think this would fall under the first amendment....

Some have PM'd about the source of the decals...

I got them off ebay - if you google "decal specialties" the first link that comes up will take you to the ebay page where you can buy them.

The size I bought are 1.5 by 1.25 inches.

The seller is named Robbie and he provided good service - the decals are of good quality.

Wheels are TSW - Nurburgring model - 19 and 20 inch combo. Note that my car is a base C6 with Z06 brakes - not a Z06 or wide-body, and as you can see the wheels clear the Z06 brakes no problem. I am told their Interlagos model will also clear the Z06 brakes.

Yeah I searched but could not find the 18/19 so, assumed 19/20. I assume they are machine finish? Can you tell me where you bought them. Yep base c6 here and will probably upgrade brakes later....so, good to know.

I am more than a bit anxious to find out where you got these from as I may have to expedite this purchase!
