While the MZ6 transmission will get you off the line a little quicker due to it's higher ratio first gear (important in autocrossing) the difference between ratios in the various gears in the MN6 transmission is more consistent, which enables keeping the engine operating nearer its peak torque as car speed increases or decreases (important in road racing, or even everday motoring, be it going up or down through the gears).
Not trying to be argumentative, but I think you'd need to graph engine speed and torque for each gear at a given MPH to determine which transmission "enables keeping the engine operating nearer its peak torque." Making this assumption based solely on the delta between gears doesn't take the ratio itself into account. With the 2 - 3 shift being probably the most important on a road coarse, I can tell you the MN6 doesn't keep me at peak torque as well as the MZ6.

I would imagine on a given road course one transmission might provide better results than another. But in general if the 2-3 shift is the most important shift, the change in engine speed will be 1/3rd less with the MN6 transmission, thus enabling one to keep the engine in its optimum torque range easier. I'm just pointing out the the MN6 is a closer ratio transmission than the MZ6, and gives you six more evenly spaced gears. Notice, for instance the difference in gear ratios between 5th and 6th in the MZ6 transmission is very minimal; in effect it is almost a five speed rather than a six speed transmission. It also has less torque capacity, which is important if you want to increase horsepower, which is probably why it is used on the more powerfull Z06 rather than the MZ6. If I were road racing I would select the Z06 over a Z51 equipped LS3 anyway if I wanted to win.
