So it's been suggested that the rev lockout on my 05' Z-51 automatic is most likely the reason I'm unable to get my car into rev. once in a while. I'm getting her out of storage this morning and sure enough I can't get into reverse. I've got two questions, 1st is there a definitive test to confirm that it is indeed the lockout solenoid, and 2nd how do I replace it, location etc... as always your help would be greatly appreciated

Reason: need to specify auto trans
Refer to a factory service manual Shift Lock Control. There are many pages on the diagnosis - including a DTC and volt meter tests. Too much to type for me anyway.
The solenoid is located (and attached) on the bottom of the auto trans floor shift asm.
Not sure if available separate, book says replace asm.
You could also just remove the solenoid entirely and save a lot of money. This forum has instructions for a C5 removal of the solenoid and since the transmission is the same the routine should be similar.
