Default Direction help

Can you help with a detailed route for a very spirited ride through the Dragon area leaving from Asheville. We would like to do the entire area in one day and then end up in the direction of Bowling Green. Please don't say get a GPS. Looking for help from someone who's done the run. Can you also help with an idea on whether we need a room in the Dragon area or we have time to head out after our day on the roads. Thanks for your help.

I recommend a Garmin or Tom Tom.

There are so many roads and 6 of us are going together. I'd like to eliminate u turns and oopses ss well as pass out a pretrip routing handout. So please, if all you can say is use a GPS than it just isn't helpful to me.

Pretty much one way to get there from Asheville. Take 19 through Maggie Valley, Cherokee till you hit 28 then continue to 129 which starts the dragon. You'll end up at the Foothills pkwy. From there you can catch I-75S into Chattanooga then all points west.

You spirited diving is going to be curtailed by the strict speed limit although if you can hold 30mph through most of the dragon you'll be happy. Weekend will dictate your driving as well. You'll spend the better part of the day getting there and through it. Take an hour and hang out at Fontana Dam, very nice.

Thanks for the input. Is there an actual route you can follow that includes 3 or 4 of the alternate roads including the dragon and ends up in the direction of Bowling Green? Can you spend a reasonable day running the roads with some stops for gas and eats?
Thanks

Bring your license, insurance, and registration. If you get too spirited you will come home with a ticket. Heard they are cracking down. Also heard they have speed cameras on trees there too. Don't know if the camera stuff is true but I wouldn't test it. If you want to do some real driving take it to the track.

This is about it - take it cool and you will have a great day - I driven in during the week when I was almost alone and on the weekend when it like being in a parking lot. Did it on a Monday and never saw a LEO.
