Default 2007 Black Interior Problem

I'm having what I consider to be an issue with the Black interor dashboard and plastic panels on my 2007 Convertible. I'm getting a milky type film on the dash and door skin. When I use an interior detailer it goes away but then it comes back in a month or two. It has been doing this since the vehicle was new. I've had other cars with Black interiors and never experienced this probllem. The vehicle has not been back to the dealership, I have an independant service guy who takes care of my oil changes, I always try to avoid dealership visits if I can.

My question for the experts on this forum is: do I have a common problem here, and is there any remedy for it? Any advise or comments greatly appreicated, thanks in advance for any help.

Common problem, out gassing of chemicals used in production of the interior. Mild soapy water helps also....

The "problem" is very mild and occurred very slowly in our 2006 and now 2009. A good wipe with a damp cloth every couple of months seemed to solve the problem.

But, YMMV.

It's completely normal (albeit annoying). I just use a microfiber cloth with plain warm water to wipe it off, then I dry it with a dry microfiber cloth. It stays good for another month or two, then I repeat the process. No biggie.

I also have a 2007. Had the same problem. Once I coated it with 303 Protectant, it never happened again. Good Luck

I was at an NCRS judging class and they were discussing issues with the C6. The dash turning milky white was brought up and they said it was caused by cleaning the dash with water. Or more specifically the chlorine in the water causes this. Also water in the vents after washing the car can cause this. The cure was using some product like 303

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'll try the 303 protectant on the affected interior panels. While there is nothing earth shattering about this problem, I can't understand why the issue never arose with any other vehicle, as I mentioned, I've had other cars with Black interiors.

Again, thanks to everyone for the advice.

I used the 303. It took several applications the first time. I was putting it on light and the dash / doors kept soaking it up and it appeared very streaky and inconstant. The end result however was perfect, and subsequent applications have only needed one light touch up coat.

I like to use the Meguiar's Supreme Shine Protectant for my 2007 Black interior.
