Tail light question
Somehow, water got into my socket-back and the corroded one of the three metal prongs that it actually snapped off. I found a simple cheap fix by inserting a piece of copper to re-establish the connection. However it was just a cheap fix and the light would work some days and wouldn't work other days. This year another metal prong snapped off so I thought it's time to replace it.
I talked to my dealer and unfortunately they don't sell the socket back alone and it is sold with the tail light assembly which would cost me $200 CAD. I spoke to Gene from GM part house and they also couldn't sell me the socket back alone, they had it for a listed price of $115 though. I spoke to Kevin from taaxiparts and same thing (Both awesome and friendly people by the way). I was so shocked and frustrated that this little piece was not sold separately. I finally found the part at Corvette Recycling listed for $5.99! I was definitely ecstatic about this as my search was finally over!
The part came in yesterday and I installed it and it works great! My question is is each socket back specific to the tail light. I ask this because I have sequential tail lights and after I installed the socket back it doesn't do the sequence anymore on the left side. The right side still goes in sequence though. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?
