Default Tail light question

A year ago, I had a problem with my far left tail light. I originally thought the bulb burnt out and it would be a simple replacement, but that wasn't the case.

Somehow, water got into my socket-back and the corroded one of the three metal prongs that it actually snapped off. I found a simple cheap fix by inserting a piece of copper to re-establish the connection. However it was just a cheap fix and the light would work some days and wouldn't work other days. This year another metal prong snapped off so I thought it's time to replace it.

I talked to my dealer and unfortunately they don't sell the socket back alone and it is sold with the tail light assembly which would cost me $200 CAD. I spoke to Gene from GM part house and they also couldn't sell me the socket back alone, they had it for a listed price of $115 though. I spoke to Kevin from taaxiparts and same thing (Both awesome and friendly people by the way). I was so shocked and frustrated that this little piece was not sold separately. I finally found the part at Corvette Recycling listed for $5.99! I was definitely ecstatic about this as my search was finally over!

The part came in yesterday and I installed it and it works great! My question is is each socket back specific to the tail light. I ask this because I have sequential tail lights and after I installed the socket back it doesn't do the sequence anymore on the left side. The right side still goes in sequence though. Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

No, just the light assembly themselves are left / right specific but the sockets can go in any of them.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to recheck the connection this weekend. Just find it odd since the harness is giving power to bulb since the light works but the sequencing doesn't work.
