Default ZO6 Targa?

Is their a way to modify a ZO6 to fit a regular C6's removable roof? I can't see myself owning a corvette without targa.

The chassis/alum frame wont support the lack of rigidity. Might be better to throw a LS7 into a Grand Sport!

It can be done, but it is expensive.

I had the same problem when shopping. I opted for a GS with a blower.

Yes, for a lot of money Caravaggio will do it. He worked with Corvette engineers and I believe it adds 80lbs of bracing to the frame.

Caravaggio does the removable top Z06 conversions for about $12k. A shop in Bowling Green KY did a forum members new Z06 for around $10k. The extreme expense involves bracing the Z06 aluminum frame.
He did a detailed writeup with pictures and road race testing. He also goes into great detail on the aluminum frame strength and comparisons with other model Corvette frames. I also saw a write up where they cut a Z06 in half and added doublers to the inside of the alum frame before adding the removable top.

There is another less expensive option. You can have a transparent roof panel bonded to your Z06 roof frame. It is not removable, but at least see through. If interested, you can contact Thompson Astro tops. The trick here is to locate an inexpensive donor transparency.

There are some of us that doubt the extra frame strengthening is necessary, but that's another discussion.

Can you provide links to the write ups?

That's the one thing GM could do that might open my wallet.

There is a guy in Tampa who converts C5 Z's to convertibles. He has done quite a few.

Not sure about C6s. If you are interested, it's the Corvette Shop on Dale Mabry Highway.
