Window squealing when lowered

Window squealing when lowered
I noticed my passenger window makes this horrendous squeal when I lower it. It sounds kind of like someone scratching nails on a chalkboard, but more of a plastic sound, if that makes sense. It starts making noise about 3-5 inches down from the top. Any ideas on what that might be? Any suggestions on things I can try to fix it myself?
If not, it's still under warranty, so I can take it in to be fixed, but that's time consuming and a bit of a pain.

I had that on my 2005. It just got worse and finally the regulator had to be replaced. I have the GMPP and it payed for it. About 9 months later the other side did the same thing and it was also replaced. Others on the forum have complained of the same problem.

So I guess I just need to schedule a service apppointment then? Does anyone know if this is a relatively quick fix, or should I plan to drop it off and be picked up becasue it's going to take a few hours?

yep window regulator. The metal cabels fray, and wad upp in the housing. thats the plastic crunching sound.
I got one from a guy off ebay that rebuilds them with stainess steal cabels, for like 250? dealer wants CRAZY money for one.

It's weird though, I tried the window this morning and it went down with no noise. Yesterday it wouldn't quit squealing and now today it's fine. I guess it's still early though, I'll see how it is on my way home.
