I constantly hear about the Optima ( sp ) battery as a replacement battery.
Can someone tell me if this is suppose to be better than an InterState ?
And which Optima battery is best for the corvette ( red top ) ?
Interesting that no one seems to promote the InterState. I thought those were one of the best out there.

thanks all,,,
Based on my use in the marine world I find them to be highly overrated. I changed to a Sears platinum (about $200) should last a long time.
My opinion is just the opposite of the above post.. I race my car, and have to cool it down after each 1/4 mile run.... After a run my engine temp is app 190 deg... I go to my pit spot, shut off the engine and run the electric water pump & fan with the engine OFF for app 10- 15 min (depending on the outside temp) I cool it down to 150 deg & I'm all set to make my next run...
Some days if I'm lucky and win a few rounds, I may have to cool it down 10 times at 10 - 15 min each time... I've had an Optima "YELLOW TOP" type 34... I race almost every weekend, and the battery is going on its 3rd year... the car is also driven during the week for pleasure only...
I have nothing but praise for the Optima Yellow Top....
The difference between Yellow and Red Top is the Yellow is a DEEP Cycle, and should be used the way I do.. a lot of drain, with the engine off.. The RED top is better for starting in COLD weather...
I also put it on a battery tender if I make a lot of runs on race day... when I get home..
