I am putting a BBK on the car. I am trying to bleed the brakes. RR first, pedal down produced fluid. A few up and downs and all juice. Then I did the inboard bleeder and same results.
Next LF, 2 or 3 pedal downs and solid fluid on the outside bleeder, switched to inside, good after 2 or 3 pedal downs.
Next LR, same as first 2.
Went to RF, no juice no matter how many times the pedal is pressed down.
We can actually press the pedal down with ALL of the bleeders closed.
Went to RR and tried again, no juice flowing.
There are no leaks in the system at any of the new connections.
The brake fluid reservoir has never gone past half full and is currently full.
Ok, never mind. I had the wife pushing the brake and her right leg got tired so she switched to her left leg. We started to have problems right then. Nothing coming out!
Guess where her left leg was? No, really. Guess. Can you say clutch? God.........
I could NOT figure out why the bleeding stopped. So, after posting in here, I went out to the car and pressed the brake. Well hell, it didn't go to the floor but is was soft (still had the RF to bleed.
Grab the wife and this time I made sure she was on the brake. Down.... juice and air up, down juice and air...
We're done bleeding now.
I rechecked the RR as I went back to it and opened the bleeder valve.
I love her but she really played with my mind just now!
Invest in Speed Bleeders, wife can stay in the house and you can bleed your cars brake system by yourself without a pumper on the clutch, I mean brake pedal. :-)
Mine left the garage in a huff once as I was trying to get her to pump the brake petal why I bled the lines.....She was pumping the gas petal......goes to show you when a girls says stop....she really wants to go......lol
We both had a big laugh over this. She's a farm girl and drives a 6 speed so she knows clutch & brake. The look on her face was priceless when I went to the porch and asked her about "which" pedal she was pushing. I needed Alan Luntz (really old people will know who this guy is) to be there to catch the expression on her face. Of course before I asked her I had sat in the car and pushed a spongy brake pedal but I sure as hell wasn't slapping the pedal to the floor as she was reporting. That was my "ah-hah" moment.
We went to the garage and finished the task rather easily now that we were on the same page, er... pedal.
I love that woman! She is fearless and will try most anything, at least once.
