I cannot open the glove compartment at right end of dash, on my 06 C6.
The last time I tried to open it by lifting the tab up, the tab went up all the way but the compartment remained closed. I've pulled on the upper edge of the lid while pulling the tab up, no results.I'm trying not to break anything. I've looked at the old posts but haven't found this problem.

Any suggestions?
The tab may be broken. Mine broke last year...had to go to the dealership. they replaced it under warranty. Cheap piece of plastic.
I believe that after you lift up the handle, you will see a metal piece that looks like a small loop. Grab that with needlenose pliers and pull it straight out and the door will open. I think the latch handle has broken off inside.

Mine broke awhile ago. The connection between the lock/finger-piece and the latch is plastic and does not hold up. At my next service, the dealer replaced the broken finger-piece and the connector. Chevy claimed it was not covered under my extended GMPP and it cost $100 for everything. Save the original lock and have them re-use it so that your fob key still works!
Here are some threads, the second one has photos and a good explanation of how to get it open with needle-nose pliers:
I haven't forgotten that I owe an answer on the glove box not opening problem.I understand the solution per the posts but am unable to do it myself since my 80 year old back won't let me slide in under the latch and look up so I can pull out on the metal rod. I'll find someone to do this for me.
Brent, since you're customer service, can you send me a page from the Corvette IPC showing the breakdown of the entire locking mechanism? I'd like to understand better how this whole contraption works.
