I don't agree. Not saying he needed to buy and do all that. I'm outa here on this one. I have been on both sides. I actually won't and never have done maintance as per the owners manual. I do such much sooner or I kinda follow the severe service guidelines. I really do change brake fliud every two years on my vehicles ( I use to yearly) I don''t do 3k oil changes. That was as hard to change as quiting smoking.LOL I have in the past usually kept vehicles a minimum of 10 years and I normaly buy used and service them fuly when I get them.

I fukky understand dealers are in business, and try to sell stuff. My question was which of the services pushed on me were really required.I realize it is my right to just say no,but bogus items should not be pushed on me in the first place. By the way after I refused the service writer, the manager sought me out and offered me a coupon for 10% off if I did the services. The powers that be must be putting pressure on them to sell. But my contention is when they sell bogus stuff they lose my business.
I think its back to the age of the car,how its driven and how maintance minded are you. Of course no need to go overboard on maintance. Remember the intervals listed by the factory are 'minimum' or like bake fliud I don't think at all. As far as offering 10% off on the package its done everyday in dealers and independents. Bet you might push and get 15% off in this economy. Most shops I am told its feast or famine on a day by day. I have been called in the 'office' for doing a fair amount of 10% off tickets years ago and told to curtail it. Was shown how it really affected the net profit on a ticket. These service depts be dealer or independent are not normaly making big or lots of profit at times. Overhead is really high. Now you talk about marketing,NTB is offering FREE brake pads! $17.95 oil changes. They don't do that just because its customer appreciation week. The items the dealer guy offered you are not bogus or like trying to sell you new air in your tires (or nitrogen) for example.
