Drove my first c6!
Occasion: Prom
First off, I shall apologize for the all-caps in my title. My intentions are not to yell at anyone, however I felt that this occasion was worth extra touch. EDIT: Apparently it auto-corrects titles so that they aren't in all-caps. Very nice feature.
My second cousin leased the car in 2008 and has to turn it back in on June 1st. I asked him, expecting to get a "no", if I could take it to the Junior-Senior prom this year at school. He said it wouldn't be a problem at all! Needless to say, I was a happy boy. How many 17-year-olds get to drive a C6 for a day?
So the day of prom, I got there at 8 in the morning for a complimentary detail. I wanted it to look good and it was the least I could do to thank him for letting me drive it. It got the works: Wash, dry, claybar, leather conditioner, the whole nine yards. Two and a half hours later, it was perfect.
So the times comes for me to drive it. I drive a Silverado and learned how to drive on my mother's Tahoe. I also have a 1977 Corvette, which is no slouch, but is not exactly a rocket either. So I'm sure you can imagine my reaction when I put the peddle down... WOW. There is simply nothing like it! What a rush! The car jumped into first gear and pinned me to my seat. Scared, I backed off immediately and found myself doing 80mph, in just that short amount of time! It is just so effortless for it to gain any amount of speed. But driving through town, it handled about like a family sedan or something. Relaxed, suddle, and the fact that I got 24.3mpg through town was so amazing, it was almost hilarious.
The JSB color is really a looker too. There are other Corvettes in our town, a few here and there. There were even others at prom, but the one I was driving got the most looks. It is just such a different color than anything else on the road. As for the ever-so-popular seat debate, I thought they were great for the amount of time I drove it. I did not do any heavy driving and I do not drive it everyday either, so that may influence my opinion.
And that settled it, I simply have to have one. The Corvette has been my favorite car for years now and I am already saving for one. But this experience completely reassured me that the Corvette is the car I have to have. I hope all the C6 owners how there have similar experiences everyday

to get rid of the Vette.Fast forward 16 years....
I test drive a C-6. The next day I owned one. I was hooked. I can't blame you, the car is awesome!!!

Aa for stomping it with her, I did. She got a big grin and had almost as good a time as I did lol. I expected to have fun, but wasn't expecting anything that extreme.
Thanks for the warm welcoming to the addiction, I think Im going to like it here

And the chicks dig it, especially in University. I get heads turning everywhere I go! My girl gets jealous :P

when he turns it in to the dealer, they will pay the buy out money (residual value) and mark it up $10k.
typically on 3 year leases, the buy out is roughly 50% of the sticker.
Work hard, save up and look towards your goals. Hard work will get you where you want to be, just remember, you can't always get what you want today. I've waited almost 30 years for this car, and it was worth the wait.
ps. I'm still at the "staring at it in the garage" stage every time I walk by and can't go anywhere in it.

Never drove a Corvette of any kind prior to the day I drove it off the lot at MacMulkin after flying back to the US from Asia.
Other than a photo, never even got a look at it until I showed up at MacMukin after a 16 hour flight from Manila via Japan and Detroit.
But ... I'm happy!

of prom date!
