I bought the porter cable just now as well along with some zaino all in one as well.. I was told this will eliminate the swirls and surface scratches with the pc and proper pads.. What u think?
You'll need
LC Hydro pads Cyan & Tangerine 3 of each
Menzerna SIP w/Cyan
Menzerna 085rd w/Tangerine
I've got plenty of Menzerna and don't mind sharing it.
I would be happy to come out your way and provide assistance/direction.
I would have bought the Griot's instead of the PC - The Griot's is more powerful and carries a lifetime warranty.
pm me and we can land line if you want. ive done it with several folks here. no prob.
no bubble no gremlins guarding my paint..LOL
HaHaHa!!! I would buy a box full of gremlins if that was the secret buddy!!! Fyi: PM has been sent.. Also, thanx for the advice on the Corsa Xtreme Exhaust about a month or so ago, best decision Ive made to date on this toy!!
a dedicated two step polish is a much better option. Consider Menzerna SIP and 085rd, Wolfgang TSR and FG, or Megs 105 and 205. You can then still protect it with any wax or sealant as desired.
There is lots of good information here on this website, and a lot of b.s. too. Keep reading and researching and you will develop knowledge and your own technique. There is no secret product or pixie dust that is perfect. There is more than one way to solve your problems, and tons more to make it worse.
I learned most about detailing from owning my first black car, a 1991 ZR 1. I got depressed from watching the finish deteriorate every time I washed it, so I got motivated to learn. The most important thing is to do everything to prevent the swirls, and secondary is to remove them. Almost anyting that touches the paint will create the microscratches. Comments from previous posters about the 2 bucket wash technique, top-down washing, lots of rinsing, etc. I have found to be true. I learned the most from reading the Zaino website, and I am a rabid Zaino user for over a dozen years. I try other product regularly, but always return to Zaino. The Zaino website has a wealth of info on preventing swirls (correct type of towels is critical). Currently, I do a final rinse with deionized water (CR Spotless Systems), blow dry with an electric leafblower, and little or no towel drying. I have never found any product better than Zaino Z5 for filling in and removing swirl marks, especially for a black car.
The products are very important but the technique used when applying them is equally important. Autogeek has some excellent" How To's" on their website. They also have great information on the correct applicator to use with each product. if you still have questions you can just call them. They are very very helpful.
I think I could find something here that could've helped
The DA Orbital & Lake Country Pads with Wolfgang's Swirl Remover and Finishing Glaze Combo pack is the ticket! Scott @ Autogeek hooked me up and I was elated with the results. Joz, you got the goods, brother!!!

Best wishes in your learning!
Z5 does some minor filling of swirls, but does nothing as far as removing them. For that, you need a strong enough polish, and the proper pad and technique.
im looking into doing this on my victory red c6. i wash and maintain the car all the time and still seem to get more and more micro scratches and it gets frustrating.
i have etched water spots on the car that can only be seen from a couple inches away in extreme sun light reflection and i would like to know how to get rid of them the safest way possible.
im locate in NY. if any members could help me out please PM me
