Default HELP, Headlight problem, no low beams

Hello all,

I bought a 2007 yesterday and found out on the way home tonight (as it is the first time I drove the vette at night) that the low beams don't work. when i first found out i pulled over and did a roadside inspection. Highs work fine, fogs and running lights work fine. the tail lights work fine (brake on and off). I messed with the selector and nothing. drove home with the fogs on.

Got home and checked the fuses (all fine) Not sure how to check for a bad relay but had the wife turn on the car while i had my finger on the relay, it seems to have tripped but not sure if it stays on or not.

the next thing i can think of is to buy a new relay to see if that works and call the dealer that i bought the car from.

any other ideas why this could be happening?

thanks for the help

I'll just throw out the obvious things first because you seem to have a good handle on it.

There are 2 fuses for the low beams, numbers 19 and 20, 1 for each side.

There is just one relay, number 47 and that would be my first thing to replace.

And when you checked the fuses, did you meter them or just do a visual.

The HID low beams use a D1S lamp and also have individual ballasts that can fail as well.

Hopefully you have an Owners Manual, but if you don't there are on line versions posted in the Sticky/FAQ Section.

Good Luck and congrats on the new car.

Since they are both out at ther same time it would almost have to be the relay or switch. I would go to the Dealer with it since I would consider it a safety issue are your DRLs working?

Thanks for the tip, im going to buy a new relay and see if that helps, if not go to a dealer, both the DRL's work fine. the only thing not working are the actual low beams themselves.

If you just purchased the vehicle, I would take it right back to the dealership and have them look at it.

Good luck,

thanks for the tip brent, Bought a new Low beam relay and put in new fuses for L and R low beams. nothing. I live in phoenix area and bought the car in Tuscon (approx 200 miles away) spoke the the dealer and he said to drop it off at the local Chevy dealer for repair and said "Ill take care of you"

Not sure if that means he is going to pay the whole bill whatever it is. Im not sure its even legal to sell a car with non functioning headlights. Im waiting to hear back from chevy.
